Dubai-UAE: 17 July, 2013 – On the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Beat Diabetes initiative of the Landmark Group, the region's leading retail and hospitality conglomerate, has launched an e-cookbook to urge the community to adopt a balanced diet and holistic lifestyle.
The initiative comes as part of the ‘Beat Diabetes, Eat Healthy' component of the Beat Diabetes campaign.
Packed with 30 nutritious and easy-to-make recipes particularly for families with multi-cuisine choices ranging from Arabic and Indian to Thai, a digital format of the e-cookbook is available for free download on the Beat Diabetes Facebook page.
Landmark Group's Beat Diabetes initiative is committed to raising awareness among individuals on the importance of managing the condition for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Its on-going campaigns are particularly relevant to the Middle East where one in every nine adults is known to have the condition with the numbers set to rise, according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). IDF also estimates that worldwide the number of people living with diabetes in 2012 has risen to 371 million compared to 366 million in 2011, with nearly 50 per cent of the individuals with diabetes yet to be diagnosed.
Landmark Group encourages the community to regularly monitor glucose levels by taking the blood glucose test to ensure early detection and remedial action. To date, nearly 150,000 individuals across the region have benefited from the Landmark Group's blood glucose testing camps since the inception of the Beat Diabetes initiative.
