Semi Permanent Make Up, or SPMU, is a type of cosmetic tattooing in which hypoallergenic pigments are introduced into the skin in order to create a shadow of colour that mimics the most perfectly applied makeup in soft natural tones of colour.  SPMU is recommended for time-pressed women with little or no time to apply cosmetics and want to look good 24/7, and even for sporty women who craves smudge-free make up.  It is also highly beneficial to those with sparse eyebrows or those with medical reasons where the eyebrow hair does not grow.

The treatment, which gives amazing results yet still natural-looking, is carried out by Sisters' Head Therapist Chloe Walsh only at the salon's flagship in Dubai Mall.  It will be introduced to other branches at a later stage.

Chloe is a fully-certified SPMU technician, having trained at the Nouveau Contour in the UK, the industry leader in semi permanent cosmetic tattoos.  Chloe's expertise allows her to assess individual facial features to achieve exquisite results of the highest standard.

Chloe said: “The SPMU process is not as deep or as invasive as traditional tattooing and uses different more bio compatible inks, which are natural, mineral-based and non-toxic.  You can expect your semi permanent make up to last around two to three years, and then you would have to come back to us for a retouch to keep it looking fresh.”

SPMU can be applied to the lips, eyebrows and around the eyes to form eyeliner.  Carried out with the highest hygiene standards, the SPMU procedure starts with a topical anaesthetic, which will be used to numb the area.  With an outline drawn on the face using make up pencil, the pigment is implanted into the skin using a disposable needle.  Chloe said that the procedure is no more painful than having your eyebrows tweezed, and takes about 60 minutes to complete.
