Dubai, UAE, 27 January 2026: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) platform, participating for the first time in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, attracted a large number of visitors and senior officials during its first week, highlighting the Library’s growing international presence and its cultural and knowledge-driven role.
During its participation, the Library reviewed its programmes, new publications, and knowledge initiatives, including A World in Your Language initiative. The Library also hosted a series of panel discussions that drew strong interest and engagement from the attendees.
Dr. Mohammed Salem AlMazrooei, Board Member at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, emphasised that this high level of engagement marks a remarkable success for the Library’s first participation. AlMazrooei highlighted that it reflects public interest in the Library’s innovative knowledge initiatives and recent publications, which embody the UAE’s vision to empower knowledge and enhance human development in society.
The Library platform also welcomed visits from senior officials, intellectuals, and authors. His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henu, Egyptian Minister of Culture, were introduced to the Library’s services, facilities, latest publications, and cultural and digital initiatives. To strengthen cultural cooperation, the Library presented the Minister with a collection of its publications, and the UAE Embassy received all the Library publications, underscoring the Library’s pivotal role in promoting culture, knowledge, and the dissemination of Arabic content.
As part of its cultural programme, the Library team hosted a session to launch the encyclopedia Ruling Families in Islamic History by Professor Abdulrazzaq Al-Fares. The encyclopedia offers a detailed analytical reading of governance in Islamic history, highlighting examples of just versus authoritarian leadership, and examining their impact on state stability, growth, and prosperity.
The Library also organised a session introducing the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, presented by His Excellency Bilal Al-Badour, Secretary-General of the Award. The session covered the 10th edition of the award, its objectives, themes, submission procedures, and detailed guidance on participation, leveraging the initiative to promote and disseminate the Arabic language.
On the sidelines of the fair, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, participated with His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Muslimani, Head of Egypt’s National Media Authority, in a session about the Cultural Relations between Egypt and the UAE. Moderated by Dr. Sulaiman Al-Hattlan, the session explored avenues for cultural cooperation and strengthening media and knowledge partnerships between the two countries.
Furthermore, the Library delegation conducted field visits to media and cultural institutions in Egypt, including the National Media Authority, the Maspero Egyptian Radio and Television Complex, the Naguib Mahfouz Studio, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Additionally, the Library participated in the Media Forum at the Golden Palace, organised in collaboration with the National Archive, National Library, and the UAE Embassy in Egypt, to promote knowledge exchange and explore cooperation opportunities.
