Statement by HE Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention World Diabetes Day

Al Owais: UAE’s health sector is on track to strengthen prevention of noncommunicable diseases, including diabetes.
Dubai 13th, November 2023: HE Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, stressed that the UAE has made remarkable achievements in combating non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes.
Speaking on World Diabetes Day, observed annually on November 14th, Al Owais emphasized that the UAE is committed to integrating future health services and smart systems, aligning with sustainable development goals in the health sector, to enhance the quality of life in the UAE, ensuring community well-being, safety, and happiness.
The minister underscored that MoHAP is working hand in hand with other health authorities nationwide to bolster a preventive health approach to curtail the spread of diabetes and improve outcomes related to the national indicator for diabetes prevalence.
In addition to supporting research and scientific studies, aiming to amplify diabetes awareness and minimize its health complications, the ministry is committed to exchanging expertise and methodologies with international health organizations and leading countries in this field to foster a collective impact in diabetes reduction, Al Owais noted.
His Excellency added that the UAE will make every possible effort to be among the top countries embracing and integrating innovations and advanced solutions in healthcare. This comes as part of the UAE’s future-oriented strategy aimed at fostering development across all vital sectors and enhancing its position in the global competitive landscape.
