Dubai, UAE, 6 July 2023: Driven by its vision and strategy to promote knowledge and support the Year of Sustainability and the UAE’s preparations for COP28, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is organizing a series of innovative educational and entertainment activities and workshops for youth, children, and families, in July.
The first of these activities is an innovative educational workshop entitled "Simplified Science Workshop for Kids: The Solar System", in cooperation with specialized centres which will introduce participants to the solar system in an interactive way through information about space, day and night, and planet Earth.
As part of the summer program, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will also organize a series of Arabic language workshops for non-native speakers between 6 and 17 years old. These workshops will be organized periodically, over two consecutive days every week throughout the summer holidays. They will include theoretical and practical lessons, tests, family talks, and various activities.
The library will also host a workshop in cooperation with Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, called "Learning Arabic Calligraphy for Beginners", to teach the basics of Arabic calligraphy to children and youth. The two-day workshop, which will be accompanied by an exhibition of the most important group of tools used in calligraphy, will be led by the calligrapher Ali Al Hammadi.
As part of the monthly dialogue and discussion sessions, a special session entitled “Coffee and a Book… Sushi with Saffron” will be held in cooperation with the reading clubs. The sessions will include a discussion about one of the most popular travel literature books by Emirati author Fawaz Dhaifullah.
In cooperation with professional trainers, the library will organize a workshop called "Paper and Scissors... The Art of Crafting", to motivate youth to think creatively and participate in the art industry, by enhancing their skills in molding, drawing, and coloring.
To celebrate Elizabeth Gilbert’s birthday, and in cooperation with the reading clubs, the library will organize “Coffee and a Book… Eat, Pray, Love” to discuss one of this decade’s most iconic and bestselling books of travel literature.
The library will also offer "The Art of Professional Photography Workshops", in cooperation with the professional photographer Hind Al Raisi. The workshop will provide attendees with extensive training on the art of photography by focusing on portraits, and encouraging the participants by presenting their photos in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library’s multimedia department.
Together with Dubai College of Tourism, the library will hold a workshop entitled "A Drink and a Snack", on the art of crafting cold beverages and light snacks. The workshop will be accompanied by an exhibition featuring the most important specialized books in cooking, recipes, and beverages in the library.
Additionally, the library will organize the “Young Talents for Playing the Piano” event, which aims to attract talented children to play the piano in its halls in the evening.
From the real world to the virtual world, the library will also organize a workshop called “Explore the World of Metaverse” in cooperation with a company specialized in developing metaverse services and technologies. The workshop will focus on teaching those interested in the metaverse and its various applications.
Events and workshops are held during official working hours at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. Those interested can register and attend for free.
