Dubai April 9th, 2023: HE Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), stressed that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan founded the UAE on the core value of humanitarian work, which has become deeply rooted in the culture and consciousness of the country's leadership, government, and people.
In a statement on the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan every year, Al Owais highlighted that humanitarian work has become a constant and integral part of the mindset and civilized behavior of Emirati society, passed down through generations.
"Since the establishment of the UAE, humanitarian work has been turned into a way of life and an approach upheld by the founding father and has now become a fundamental part of all national policies and strategies, as well as the plans and work approaches of both governmental and private institutions. It is a cornerstone of social responsibility activities. This is demonstrated by our country's unwavering commitment to the values of giving and tolerance that were instilled and supported by Sheikh Zayed, aiming to enhance the UAE's position as a leader in humanitarian work at the regional and global levels".
Al Owais pointed out that the concept of humanitarian work has evolved from being solely focused on providing aid and relief to the afflicted and disadvantaged to encompassing every field of work, scientific research, discovery, innovation, and creativity that can benefit humanity's progress and wellbeing. He emphasized that the need to promote humanitarian work has increased manifold in our times.
The Minister concluded by highlighting that Zayed Humanitarian Day is a national occasion that commemorates the legacy of Zayed, serving as a source of inspiration from his pioneering example and renewing the pledge of loyalty to the country and its wise leadership. He emphasized the crucial role of consolidating the values of giving and tolerance at the core of MoHAP's vision, initiatives, and approach to drive progress in the process of renaissance, construction, and development for a better tomorrow, not only for the people of the UAE but also for humanity as a whole.
