Last Update: Sunday, September 27, 2020 : 14:00 (+4GMT)
United Arab Emirates, September 27, 2020: Tia Watson (13 years, 42 kgs) and her brother Rio (17 years, 45 kgs) accomplished the Climb With Rio challenge this weekend in less than an hour. Sister Tia walked 10 times (70 meters) up and down the stairs of their home, the equivalent of climbing Sydney Opera House, with brother Rio strapped on her back.
Tia and Rio are part of Team Angel Wolf, a racing group led by their father Nick Watson and includes their mother Delphine. Though Rio was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder that affects his speech, motor and learning abilities, his father has involved him in triathlons, races and swimming competitions. With the lockdown in place it was time to do a challenge at home, which formed the Climb With Rio World Tour challenge. Where Father and son super duo virtually travelled around the world, climbing the equivalent size of the most famous landmarks from six continents. This time it was sister Tia who climbed one of the most iconic landmarks in Australia with her brother strapped on her back.
‘I was inspired by my dad so I wanted to try something different, it was a hard challenge but Rio’s giggles, laughter, and excitement motivated me to continue, as I knew that meant he loved every moment of being included in the challenge and that is what it is all about’! Said Tia.
Hundreds of people have joined Team Angel Wolf with the Climb With Rio World Tour challenge over the weekend. There was lots of support from others around the world and it created a very inclusive event. With another achievement under their belt, Team Angel Wolf is staying active. Their goal has always been to create awareness and to connect with the community for Inclusive Impactivity. Next month, Team Angel Wolf will virtually travel to South America to climb another iconic landmark.
