New Smart licensing process to meet the needs of marine leisure sector
August 17, 2020. Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently launched self-inspection procedure for all private marine leisure crafts with length not exceeding eight meters. The announcement was made amid DMCA’s continued efforts to provide integrated packages of maritime facilities and smart services tailored to meet the needs of Dubai’s marine leisure sector. The new procedure enables the remote licensing of leisure crafts without the need to visit the customer happiness centers. Under the new self-inspection mechanism, the boat owners can take the required pictures of their marine crafts and upload them online in the prescribed format. After completing the process, DMCA officials will review and send the approval electronically.
The self-inspection procedure for leisure crafts forms part of DMCA-led maritime innovation and digitalization strategies designed to provide top-notch interactive services and ensure seamless and reliable completion of remote transactions aimed at increasing customer satisfaction, a top priority of DMCA.
The new procedure facilitates faster leisure crafts’ licensing procedures to spur maritime activities in the emirate and enhance the attractiveness of the local marine leisure segment, which is a key contributor to Dubai’s overall maritime sector. Capitalizing on the latest technological innovations, DMCA is continuously improving the licensing processes to save time and effort needed to obtain marine permits and licenses. The efforts are also geared towards improving the quality and competitiveness of maritime services, in line with DMCA’s commitment to support the maritime sector’s growth and sustainability, as well as promoting Dubai’s prestigious status as a global hub for marine leisure.
