Dubai, UAE, 13 August, 2020 — Carrefour, operated by Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE, has responded to the catastrophic incident that rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with the launch of a region-wide donation initiative to provide essential aid to those who need it. Working alongside Emirates Red Crescent, Carrefour UAE has joined forces with Carrefour Lebanon to collect, donate and distribute all-important contributions through a variety of channels, including facilitating customer donations.
Carrefour is empowering the public to help those affected by the 4 August blast in Beirut. Customers will have the opportunity to donate their accumulated SHARE rewards points via the Carrefour app, that will be redeemed as funds transferred to Emirates Red Crescent. Customers can also buy a digital voucher online via www.carrefouruae.com, with the voucher value used by the Emirates Red Crescent to purchase essential supplies for victims. Customers will also have the option to donate a box of essential items worth AED50 or AED100 at checkout counters in Carrefour stores across the country.
The multi-channel initiative emphasises Majid Al Futtaim and Carrefour’s roles as community builders, encouraging a spirit of generosity during this critical time. Majid Al Futtaim was one of the first respondents to offer help to the affected people of Beirut through Carrefour Lebanon, by providing food and essential supplies to NGO’s supporting victims and participating in the mass cleaning effort of the city.
