A SEAMLESS BLEND OF TECH, TREND AND INNOVATION, MY SKIN TRACK UV AND ITS COMPANION APP MEASURE UV, POLLUTION, HUMIDITY AND POLLEN
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - September 10, 2019: Surviving summer is no mean feat and the first one to take a beating is our skin. Well, now skincare is set for a revolution as La Roche-Posay launches the ‘My Skin Track UV,’ the first battery-free wearable sensor and companion app to measure the wearer’s personal exposure to UV rays, pollution, humidity and pollen. A must-have in the country where weather conditions reach extreme ends of the spectrum, My Skin Track UV was co-developed with L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator and further strengthens a long-standing commitment to sun safety research and innovation.
Launched first in the US in November 2018 and now available in the UAE, the pioneering instrument enables users to better understand the environment they’re exposed to and subsequently make informed choices related to their skin. Consumers on the move will never have to worry about charging the battery-free sensor and can effortlessly pair the trendy device with clothing and accessories.
“For over 40 years, La Roche-Posay has been committed to pioneering science to bring the best dermatological solutions to consumers. Today, health tech and innovation such as My Skin Track UV represent a huge opportunity to offer more personalized solutions and recommendations, and a chance to educate consumers about better managing skincare,” said Laetitia Toupet, La Roche-Posay Global General Manager.
Activated by the sun and powered by the user’s smartphone using near-field communication, My Skin Track UV relays stored data to its supplementary app with an easy single-touch function; all you have to do is simply tap the device against your phone to update the app. Measuring both UVA and UVB rays, the app provides instant status updates while the sensor stores data of upto three months.
Based on your location, the companion app alerts you when the UV index is high, your skin type and your collective time in the sun. The higher the UV index and your percentage of max-sunstock, the higher the risk of overexposure to the sun. The app also provides insights into humidity, pollen and pollution levels thereby allowing users to efficiently manage their skin and change behaviors accordingly. My Skin Track UV’s algorithm was built using 27 published journals and clinical studies, and the statistics speak for themselves; 64% of users say their behavior haschanged during and after use while 86% say they take better care of their skin.
Not one to shy away from skincare and especially, sun safety research, La Roche-Posay’s line of Anthelios sunscreens has won over 60 beauty industry awards till date. An ideal product for harsh UAE summers, the Anthelios Shaka Fluid has the highest UVA protection in the market and shields skin from UVA and UVB rays thereby helping to prevent damage caused by Infrared-A and pollution. Resistant to water, sweat and sand, Anthelios Shaka Fluid boasts of a pleasantly fluid and non-sticky texture that is completely invisible on skin.
La Roche-Posay the number 1 dermatologist recommended skincare brand worldwide. The brand continues to work closely with these doctors to develop safe and effective skincare products for patients. In a fast-paced world, La Roche-Posay perfectly addresses the major worldwide trend to track health metrics by creating easy to use gadgets and apps that seamlessly blend tech, trend and innovation.
