Empower renews commitment towards community members through blood donation initiative

Dubai, UAE, 15 June 2019:  Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, organized its annual blood donation campaign as part of the World Blood Donor Day, which is celebrated on 14 June every year.

The campaign was held at Empower’s staff accommodation in Al Quoz by the DHA-run Dubai Blood Donation Centre mobile bus. The mobile bus helps in collecting additional 70-80 units of blood per day and the centre undertakes the responsibility of ensuring safe blood for thousands of people who receive life-saving transfusions every year. 

Through the initiative, Empower aims to support the objectives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, to build a coherent and vibrant Emirati society, and the Dubai Plan 2021, to build an inclusive and cohesive society, that embraces common civic values. 
“Empower’s commitment to organising blood donation campaigns stems from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and its belief in the importance of promoting blood donation among its staff,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Bin Shafar commended the role of Empower’s staff for making this initiative a success throughout the year. 

“Blood donation campaigns are key to raising awareness on the importance of regular blood donation to ensure a healthy life,” added Bin Shafar.

“We are committed to instilling a culture of giving to contribute to saving lives through blood donation campaigns throughout the year,” continued Bin Shafar.

For the last 12 years, Empower has been involved actively in blood donation campaigns, as an immediate response to the request from the Dubai Blood Donation Centre and Thalassemia Centre, to address the shortage of blood supplies. as well as a campaign on World Health Day.   

These campaigns have been conducted in partnership with Dubai Municipality, Dubai International Real Estate, Dubai Police, Al Ameen Service, Dubai Health Care City, and Blood Donors Kerala - UAE.

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers.
