Dubai – 01 May 2019: As a token of appreciation to its outstanding clients, Dubai Customs held its first client recognition ceremony of 2019, which will become an established monthly event to honor best performing clients and businesses in various categories.
Director General of Dubai Customs HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih attended the ceremony along with a host of business representatives, senior executives and heads of departments and customs centers. HE Musabih honored a number of top performing companies clients of Dubai Customs who achieved great results this year in different rewarding categories including clearance, mobile services, smart workspace, AEO, virtual corridor, and complaints /suggestions and others.
“Dubai Customs has reached unprecedented new heights of customer happiness achieving a score of 97.49% on Dubai Government’s Happiness Index. This new achievement would not have been achieved if it were not for your positive feedback and favourable perception of the level of service we deliver at Dubai Customs,” said HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih in a welcome address to the recognized clients.
He added that Dubai Customs is digging deep to come up with fresh ideas and initiatives that would streamline customs work and ease border formalities and procedures to stimulate business activity and enhance traders revenues.
“Lately, with the blessing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Free Zones Council, Dubai Customs launched the ‘Virtual Stock Guarantee’ facility for licensed free zone companies and customs warehouses in Dubai. We have developed the new facility to support re-export activity from free zones to global markets and to provide the means to help Dubai maintain a leading position and turn into a world economic capital. This initiative is the first of its kind in the world.
“More than 18,000 companies based in 24 free zones and 37 customs warehouses can benefit from the Virtual Stock Guarantee facility, in addition to customs warehouse companies willing to use it to re-export their goods solely through Dubai’s air and sea ports, and the UAE land ports of exit.”
HE Musabih further noted “the new initiative will enable release of AED 455 billion in returned customs guarantees for FZ companies and customs warehouses.”
On the other hand, Dubai Customs Director General said “Dubai's non-oil foreign trade, thanks to the guidance and vision of our wise leadership, managed to overcome major global trade headwinds. Dubai's total trade volume touched AED 1.3 trillion in 2018 and we processed 9.6 million customs transactions in the same period.
“This would not be possible if it were not for the advanced smart services and seamless processes that Dubai Customs constantly develops based on customers constructive suggestions and feedback, and in line with our stated vision to be the leading customs administration in the world supporting legitimate trade.”
As world Expo 2020 in Dubai is around the corner, our efforts to achieve global leadership are more significant now with our vigorous involvement to ensuring the UAE is staging an exceptional mega event in less than two years, Musabih explained.
“Our Authorised Economic Operator program already has 55 members benefiting from its exclusive facilities and the number will increase as we plan to sign more mutual recognition arrangements.”
