Immerse yourself in the world of art at Brighton College Dubai's inaugural ArtFest

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 22nd April 2019: To commemorate the UAE’s Year of Tolerance, Brighton College Dubai in collaboration with Thuluth: Centre for Arabic Language, Culture and Arts, will launch its first ever ArtsFest around the theme of Transformation this Thursday, 25th April.
The six-day festival will see the school change into an interactive art space with installations and curated artwork exhibited from international artists. Created to immerse the pupils and wider community in fine arts and transform how they view and experience art, ArtsFest will also give attendees the opportunity to experience a wide range of art forms including installation art, graffiti, Japanese art, batik, disability arts and enameling.
In addition to the exhibition a series of engaging workshops and talks will take place for the public and include the following sessions:
- Introduction to Enameling workshop on Sunday 28th April from 9:00am-12:00pm
- Panic! The War of the Worlds talk on Sunday 28th April from 3:40pm-4:40pm
- History of Art workshop on Monday 29th April from 9:00am-11:00am
- The ‘Lec Chair’ workshop on Tuesday 30th April from 9:00am – 12:00pm
- 1920’s Art and Fashion on Tuesday 30th April from 3:40pm-4:40pm
- Printing workshop on Wednesday 1st May from 9:00am – 12:00pm
Famed for engaging the youth through his art, Bahraini based international graffiti artist, Huvil will also be visiting Brighton College Dubai as part of the festival to run an exciting graffiti workshop and will create a unique installation for the school as part of his visit.
Head Master Marco Longmore said: “The arts are incredibly important to us at Brighton College and we’re pleased to launch the first ArtsFest at our new campus here in Dubai. We hope to expose our community to a range of creative and expressive arts and enrich those who attend the workshops and talks.”
Brighton College Dubai’s inauguration of ArtsFest also marks the program launch of Bloom Education’s Thuluth; a cultural space dedicated to inter-cultural dialogue and a deeper understanding of the rich Arab heritage and traditions through language and arts.
“Our aim is to create an inclusive program that engages all factions of the community in events that encourage the learning of the Arabic language through an immersion in its culture and arts, and an appreciation for them.” commented Rayyah Fathalla, Director of Thuluth.
The festival will run from Thursday 25th April until Wednesday 1st May and certain events are open to the public.
