Dubai, UAE 16th April 2019: Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation received a delegation from Dubai Police headed by Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. The meeting covered different issues of cooperation in security, and paved the way to a future agreement on different aspects in fulfilment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Bin Sulayem took the visitors on a tour where they saw different facilities at Dubai Customs. They viewed the customs operation room, the first of its kind in the region, that controls 500 surveillance cameras in 25 customs entry points in Dubai.
The delegates also visited the Customs Declarations Management, which is in charge of clearance of all goods around-the-clock using Mirsal 2 system. The management did 7.5 million declarations in 2018, and achieved 95% client happiness thanks to its advanced services and facilities including early clearance.
Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs briefed the visitors with the nature and role of Mirsal 2; the smart secure administrative electronic declaration system. The in-house built system is very effective in facilitating trade and reducing time, money and hassle. Thanks to Mirsal 2 and other systems such as the Smart Risk Engine and the Smart Workplace Portal, 77% of the time needed to do the services was saved, and 96% of declarations are now handled automatically in less than 2 minutes.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs and a number of executive directors and heads of customs centers.
“We work closely with Dubai Police towards a more secure and prosperous emirate,” says bin Sulayem. “Maintaining Dubai’s leading position in the world and pushing it even further is our target in fulfilment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.”
He adds:
“We have different aspects of cooperation and coordination with Dubai Police, including preparations for the upcoming EXPO 2020. Exhibitors and companies will be surprised by the seamless system and services in offer for them. This again is synonymous with Dubai and its great efforts in embracing very promising projects like the Dubai Silk Road.”
On his part, Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police highly applauded the strategic partnership with Dubai Customs and the strong historical ties between the two sides, which support the national economic growth in all fields.
Al Marri expressed his happiness for the world-class level Dubai Customs reached in dealing with different components of the supply chain and how they maintain this high level of security over land, sea and air borders.
“We agreed to put up a comprehensive framework for a future agreement that covers different aspects of cooperation between Dubai Customs and Dubai Police in realization of Dubai Plan 2021, 50-Year Charter and the eight principles of governance,” says Director of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih. “Dubai Police is our strategic partner and we meet to build on this partnership to further protect our society and make our clients happier.”
