Dubai Customs organizes women's “Tolerance Parade” in conjunction with International Women's Day

Dubai – 9 March 2019: Director of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih and Maj. Gen. Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence participated in the women’s “Tolerance Parade” at Maydan racecourse for a distance of 4 kilometers. The parade was organized by Dubai Customs in conjunction with the International Women’s Day which is celebrated globally on 8th March. More than 500 female employees from 14 government entities took part in procession, in addition to mothers of people of determination (people of special needs). The event, organized by the Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs, comes as part of the series of events that Dubai Customs has in place for the Year of Tolerance.
The women’s “Tolerance Parade” is the first gathering of Dubai government departments in the tolerance year, and aimed to enhance the values of tolerance and co-existence and other principles taught and instilled into the nation by the Late Founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, May Allah Bless His Soul.
“We have a message to convey through this procession. The UAE is home of tolerance and was built on the pillars of tolerance and co-existence,” Musabih said. “The UAE now is among the most stable and prosperous countries in the world, and tolerance is an inherent value among the Emiratis.”
On her part, Mariam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Head of the Women's Committee at Dubai Customs said tolerance is typically associated to women because of her nature.
“Women have a major role in strengthening and spreading this value through multiple roles they play in society as mothers, teachers, doctors and employees” Al-Shamsi said.
