February 16, 2019; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) announced its participation in the 24th edition of Gulfood, which is taking place at Dubai World Trade Center between 17-21 February, under the theme “The World of Good, The World of Food”.
DAFZA is one of the UAE’s biggest supporters of the Halal food industry, and will highlight its efforts to promote the sector through initiatives such as launching “Dubai Global Gateway to Halal Industries: Your Guide Step by Step” in Arabic, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The guide supports the development of the Halal industry and the economic eco-system in Dubai.
Considered one of the key publications in the industry, the guide includes introductions and guidelines to enable foreign investors to discover the Halal foods market, by providing assessment forms and checklists to assist in market entry.
The guide highlights the huge investment opportunities available for foreign investors, and introduces procedures, standards, and services, provided by government centers and entities, as well as the streamlined eco-system put in place by the UAE and Dubai to enhance foreign investors’ experience. This includes businesses establishment and acquiring Halal certification. The guide also includes success stories from companies operating within DAFZA such as that of Hershey’s.
Visitors of the exhibition will have the chance to explore the storage solutions offered by DAFZA through its recently-expanded light industrial units which have cooling capabilities with a capacity of 200KW. These LIUs have competitive rates, size flexibility and greater cost efficiency. Such features address the needs of F&B companies, in addition to the various types of trading licenses offered by DAFZA.
Jamal bin Marghoob, Senior Sales Director at DAFZA, stressed that participating in Gulfood, the world's largest specialized F&B trade show, comes to highlight the services and competitive advantages provided by DAFZA to F&B companies, including ease of establishing and running a business, as well as the strategic location, given the close proximity to one of the largest airports in terms of passengers and cargo movement.
He also pointed out that DAFZA’s annual participation in Gulfood reflects the significance of the services provided by DAFZA to companies aiming to grow their operations or to enter the regional market through Dubai. Bin Marghoob mentioned that the trade show provides an ideal networking platform to promote partnerships and cooperation with leading global companies, and engage with their representatives to introduce the unique utilities, infrastructure, administrative, regulatory, and logistic facilities provided to foreign investors.
F&B companies represent 7% of companies operating within DAFZA, and multinational companies account for 30 per cent of these companies in the sector, benefiting from the unique facilities and services provided by DAFZA for their operations in the UAE and the region. This also includes the facilities offered by the Halal Trade and Marketing Center, which provides an integrated system of marketing and sales services in the Halal sector.
