- Eight Audi R8 LMS for GT3 and one for GT4

Dubai, January 10, 2019 – Never before has Audi Sport customer racing’s representation in the UAE been as strong as this year at the Hankook 24H Dubai. A record 15 of the 77 race cars in the field are sporting the Four Rings on their hoods and will be on the grid in the GT3, GT4 and TCR classes.
“The 24 Hours of Dubai is an outstanding club sport event,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “Amateur drivers are able to share the cockpit with pros, and compete with them to clinch victories in their class and overall.”
This year, Audi Sport customer racing will be represented in the race with its three current products. Eight teams are fielding the GT3 version of the new Audi R8 LMS, which was unveiled at the Paris Motorshow in October 2018. The Audi R8 LMS version that has been prepared for GT4 racing will contest the event in Dubai in the hands of Fox Motorsport and six customer teams in the TCR class are completing the brand’s line-up with the Audi RS 3 LMS.
Team MS7 by WRT is relying on Vincent Vosse’s seasoned and successful Belgian race team in the new R8 LMS GT3 car. Also on board will be the two Audi Sport campaigners Christopher Mies and Dries Vanthoor as well as Saudi driver Mohammed Saud Fahad Al Saud.
In car number 9, BWT Muecke Motorsport team will be on track with their new R8 LMS GT3 and will have Markus Winkelhock on board as their pro driver and DTM champion.
Following free practice and qualifying sessions on Thursday, 77 teams will start the 24-hour race at 3:00 PM on Friday, 11th January at the Dubai Autodrome and the chequered flag will fall on the afternoon of Saturday 12th January.
