Dubai, UAE, September 16, 2018: The organizing committee of the Sehati (My Health) conference have chosen the speakers and the program content for the 7th edition of the conference. The conference will be organized by the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah during November 27-29.
The committee also decided to organize a youth-run workshop attended by 100 of their peers during the next edition of the conference. The decision came in light of the selection of the youth age group as a target for the activities of this year’s conference. The workshop will review ways to help the youth avoid obesity and to sustain their health in the future.
These decisions were made during the fourth meeting held by the organizing committee of the 7th edition of Sehati conference, which recently took place at the headquarters of the Health Promotion Department.
The meeting was chaired by HE Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Conference, and was attended by; Dr. Amina Mohammed Almarzouqi, Acting Dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah and Chairman of the scientific organizing committee of the conference, and other members of the committee. The attendees comprehensively reviewed the agenda of the conference, as well as all of the remaining and completed stages of the predetermined plan.
HE Iman Rashid Saif stressed that allocating the youth-run workshop to take place during the 7th edition is a unique initiative that will be professionally organized to ensure that it benefits this age group, which is of great interest to His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
Dr. Amina Mohammed Almarzouqi stated that the focus on the youth age group during the conference this year and the organizing of a youth-run workshop will have a positive effect on this group which represents a transition from childhood to young adulthood. She pointed out that the attendance and participation of the youth in the conference will be one of the most important activities on the agenda of the conference and will receive great attention by the scientific committees organized.
The committee chose the speakers for the next edition of the conference after reviewing the list of nominees and their Curriculum vitae. The committee also reviewed the results of “Misk” study, which is supervised by the University of Sharjah under the slogan of “Protection and prevention during the 1,000-day period”. The study aims to protect children from obesity and other diseases that might affect their future.
The six previous editions of the conference were successful in attracting more than 5000 participants, as well as 80 local and international experts dedicated to various scientific and medical specialties. The conference had previously also reviewed around 70 varied health topics that revolved around women, men, children and families as a whole.
