SLC launches ‘Leader's Challenge' initiative to create innovative ideas and develop leadership capabilities based on UAE founding father's wisdom and leadership

UAE, January 17, 2017 - The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) in Dubai, has launched a new initiative ‘Leader's Challenge’ under the theme, ‘Adoption of Zayed's Thoughts and Leadership’ during a special discussion session organized by the SLC’s Creativity and Innovation department and hosted by the SLC Leadership Council at the Youth Centre in Emirates Towers. The initiative is a quality-focused approach towards instilling and teaching the values inspired by the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to the employees and officials of the secretariat. The project also falls in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to celebrate 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed.’

H.E. Ahmad Saeed Bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai and Chairman of Leadership Council, said, “The launch of this new initiative demonstrates a strong push towards the development of leadership potential based on the founding father’s dynamic thought leadership. The launch also proves to be both timely and strategic as it follows the mandate to celebrate the centennial of an exceptional leader who has built solid foundations for achieving growth and development—with human development as a top priority, representing the ‘Essential of all real progress,’ which is based on solid foundations like brotherhood, equality, justice and co-existence. The UAE today is a global model for prosperity, progress and development.”

He added: “We have a responsibility to strengthen the spirit of leadership among the leaders at SLC’s various departments by further encouraging them to adopt frameworks and methods that have been derived from the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed.”

Morshed Al Mulla, Head of Creativity and Innovation Team-SLC, said, “The launch of Leader's Challenge reflects our commitment to adopt innovative initiatives that will foster a culture of challenge and innovation, while also instilling a spirit of leadership and determination through the adoption of the late Sheikh Zayed's leadership approach--solid foundations upon which the UAE has been built. The challenge lies in its role to spread the values of positivity and to motivate leadership capabilities of excellence, creativity and innovation to contribute effectively in the process of developing the legislative process and the legal system in Dubai, in order to ensure the optimal application of legislation and the principle of the rule of law as one of the core values of the UAE.”

The discussion sessions included brainstorming activities aimed at identifying ideas, suggestions and proposals that contribute to the further development of the leadership initiative, as well as addressing obstacles, difficulties and challenges to ensure the success of the ‘Leader's Challenge.’
