5th Mercedes-Benz International set for January 2018

The Mercedes-Benz International Pro-Am Supported by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Eastern Motors returns for its fifth edition from 28 January – 01 February 2018 at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai, UAE, February 01, 2018:   Following on from successful staging of their International Pro Am event dating back to 2014, the AESGC is looking forward to hosting the fifth edition with Eastern Motors, the exclusive dealership of Mercedes- Benz in Al Ain and automotive member of ALFAHIM. The event format will include a 3 day team event to crown the Pro Am Champions followed by the fourth and final day which will see the professionals competing to complete their 72 hole total score and the amateurs playing in the individual 2018 Mercedes Benz Amateur Stroke Play.

“The AESGC management are so proud to host this prominent event once again with the aim of providing its competitors with the best golf experience possible,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of AESGC.  “This tournament will bring a new opportunity to cross cultures and other social aspects and I convey my best wishes to all the participants” 

The 2017 professional winner, Alex Wrigley (PGA of GB&I) whose tournament week included a course record 63 in Round 3, will be returning to defend his crown in the pro division with a €28,000 prize fund available.   

AESGC General Manager, His Excellency Mohammed Rashid Al Nasseri, added: “We are deeply honoured with the trust from the organisers for choosing AESGC as the host to this prestigious event once again.  May this tournament promote camaraderie among golfers as it takes golf sports to another milestone at the Garden City of Al Ain.”

“This is one of the main golf events the club always look forward to each year, as we welcome all of the teams to Al Ain. Some are returning, some for the first time for what I am sure will be great event with some fantastic golf played over the week. As always it is great to have Mercedes-Benz, once again associated with the event as they have been since we had our first one back in 2014 along with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council” added Gavin Chappell, AESGC Golf Manager.

Along with participants from the UAE, teams will also be traveling from all over the world to be part of the field in the PGA of Europe sanctioned event. Entries are open to professionals who are members of a recognized Professional Golfers Association along with their amateur team members. The event will conclude at the Al Ain Rotana with the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 1stFebruary.
