Over 70% fuel efficiency improvement
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 14, 2017: Going strong on its CO2 reduction agenda, Toyota, exclusively distributed by Al-Futtaim Motors, UAE’s leader in sustainable mobility since 2008, reiterated its support to UAE’s vision 2021 by launching the 2018 Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) at the 14th edition of the Dubai International Motor Show
In addition to its striking stylish design, the 2018 Camry HEV provides over 70% greater fuel economy than a regular petrol engine Camry, thanks to a revised hybrid system. With a 2.5L engine, the new Camry’s improved electric motor produces more torque and helps make acceleration even more responsive, delivering 212 horsepower.
The 2018 model’s elevated efficiency arrives with a remarkably stunning drive, that is achieved through a lightweight, 30% more rigid body, a new suspension, state-of-the-art technology, and world-class safety features.
Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Toyota at Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “Toyota was the first to introduce the Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology to the UAE, through the launch of Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle in 2008 . Today, this model grew to a fleet of over 1500 Hybrid Electric taxis and is expected to cross the 2000 mark by the end of the year. Our recent handovers of Camry Electric Hybrid to key taxi operators confirm that HEV motoring is the most practical low-emission mobility solution that will help fleet operators meet their environmental targets in support of UAE’s Vision 2021.”
The stylish design of the 2018 Camry HEV which is built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture is expressed through the powerful shape of its exterior. It enjoys a newly-developed double wishbone rear suspension system that provides a high-quality ride comfort, overall height, floor height and hood height lowered for a low center of gravity, high rigidity body with a 30% increase in torsional rigidity, new 4-point engine mount to reduce engine vibration transmitted to the cabin and sound deadening and sound insulation material with increased area and thickness.
The new Camry HEV is considered the leader in fuel economy and driving performance in its class, thanks to renewed powertrain, high-efficiency high-power next-generation “Dynamic Force Engine”, powerful acceleration and the new Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) contributing to low fuel consumption.
The new Camry HEV offers different choices of drive modes. While SPORT mode improves acceleration response by increasing the amount of throttle response in accordance with how much the accelerator pedal is depressed for small to medium pedal inputs, the ECO mode aids in fuel-efficient driving by reducing the amount of throttle response in accordance with how much the accelerator pedal is depressed for small to medium pedal inputs. NORMAL mode achieves both fuel economy and acceleration.
The relocated HEV battery from the luggage compartment floor to under the rear seat allows for more luggage space while contributing to a lower center of gravity, which enhances excellent handling stability.
2018 Camry HEV’s world-class safety features include Adaptive Front Light System (AFLS), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Automatic Breaking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), back monitor and ISOfix child seat anchors.
