Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Marks Flag Day with Patriotic Initiatives

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 2 November, 2017;  Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the leading national entity for development aid, today celebrated Flag Day with a series of patriotic initiatives. Notably, the Fund joined the One Million Signatures of Loyalty to the Nation campaign and launched a competition for the best flag picture.

The month-long internal competition aims to bolster patriotism and unity. The Fund will select the winner during the 46thUAE National Day.  
Suitably attired in the flag colours - red, green, white and black - ADFD employees gathered around the flag pole in front of the Fund’s headquarters at 11am to hoist the national flag and listen to the national anthem.

On the occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, expressed his gratitude to the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and members of the Federal Supreme Council.

Addressing the Fund’s employees, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi said: “The annual Flag Day is an important occasion for us to look back with pride at the UAE’s many milestones over the past four and a half decades. Under the leadership of our founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and our President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, our country has today established a global reputation for happiness, generosity, tolerance, bravery, innovation and progress.”

He added: “ADFD’s socio-economic development work has reached all corners of the world, achieving recognition for the UAE and its unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Your collective efforts have underpinned our years of success in alleviating global poverty. I invite you to take this moment to celebrate your accomplishments and reaffirm your commitment to our beloved nation.” 

Established in 1971, the Fund commemorated its 46thanniversary on 15 July 2017.
