Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has reported the successful results of this year’s summer campaign ‘Smile at 24 degrees’--driving in 5.4 per cent savings on district cooling energy consumption. The campaign, which ran for four months during the summer, was aimed towards increasing awareness on the unified move to achieve sustainable development and the importance of energy conservation.
The ‘Smile at 24 degrees’ campaign was launched in June this year asking the district cooling consumers to set their AC units to 24°C to help save on their electricity bill, while also saving on energy and the future. The initiative falls in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote sustainable development and reduce the emirate's carbon footprint according to Dubai Plan 2021, which looks towards transforming Dubai into a smart city complete with the environmental elements of being clean, healthy and sustainable.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower, said, “We are proud to report that our ‘Smile at 24 degrees’ initiative has generated excellent results 5.4per cent in savings on district cooling energy consumption. The positive response that we received has prompted us to further develop and
implement more programs and initiatives that can help make people more informed about the significance of energy conservation and how they can play their part in Dubai's move to achieve sustainable development, while saving on district cooling consumption bills.”
Empower provides environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
