Ministry of Health and Prevention launches patient smart portal Al Malaf system

UAE, October 8, 2017- The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced the launch of a patient smart portal – Al Malaf system during the Ministry's participation at the at the 37th edition of GITEX Technology Week (GITEX 2017), an annual consumer computer and electronics trade show, exhibition and conference, which is being held from October 8 to October 12, 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

According to His Excellency (H.E.) Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services, MOHAP, the new smart patient portal system is an essential new component in the Ministry's efforts to develop a world class fully efficient and reliable health information system. He added that the new service also complements MOHAP's implementation and compliance of international standards for health facilities under the Ministry--falling in line with the goals and objectives of the Smart Government initiative and National Agenda 2021 to develop a global health system.

Al Ketbi revealed the Ministry's plans to develop smart e-services that provide a unique experience to its customers and are based on the three key drivers of the smart transformation index, which include the availability and development of services on the portal; availability and development of the service through mobile devices via multiple channels and the design of a smart electronic measurement platform. Al Ketbi also explained that the introduction of this new service is expected to reduce the rate of customers by 80 per cent by 2018 while also drive up its star ratings.

Meanwhile, Mubaraka Ibrahim, Director, Health Information Systems Department, MOHAP, shared that the Ministry is committed in its efforts to provide all visitors with access to an electronic portal that enables them to view all of their electronic health records, which contains all their clinical health information and provides them with all health education programs that can contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Mubaraka Ibrahim, stressed that the new feature further involves patients with the development of their healthcare plans--providing them with direct communication via the smart gateway and through a private messaging feature offered by the new system. It also enables the management of patient appointments, direct appointments at primary health care centers, and improved patient satisfaction by providing access to their health information at any time.

She added that the patient's smart gate allows for direct booking, selection of the preferred doctor and review of the time available for an appointment in the health care center. The system also gives the patient capability to explain his or her health and symptoms within the time-booking request, wherein the user later receives a text message confirming the appointment.

The user will be able to access his medical file to view the results of medical analysis, which can later be downloaded or printed on the patient's personal computer. The new system can also be used to manage other family member’s accounts.
