The Group is one among 14 companies in Dubai to be chosen for this recognition
Dubai, September 27: Centena Group, a UAE-based multinational conglomerate, has been awarded the prestigious Dubai Chamber CSR Label for the second year in a row, following significant contributions towards creating an exemplary workplace atmosphere and for adopting some of the best environmental practices by a corporate body in the emirate.
Centena Group was among the 14 companies from across Dubai that received the award this year.
Presenting the award to Sanjay Raghunath, Centena Group's Chairman and Managing Director, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Majid Saif Al Ghurair praised the Group’s efforts towards enhancing its CSR practices and aligning them with the company's strategic objectives.
“The company has a good understanding of all its CSR impact areas; it has also developed supporting policies and processes for most of them. Centena Group has demonstrated a strong commitment to CSR and taken practical measures to ensure that CSR is an integral part of the company's operations,” observed an assessment by Dubai Chambers.
Sanjay Raghunath, Chairman and Managing Director of Centena Group, says, receiving the recognition for the second year in a row is encouragement enough to move forward with its various community-related programmes.
“We have been consistently working towards achieving our CSR goals, which is a part of our guiding principle and a key value to which we assign great importance. Our main focus this year has been to enhance the sustainable initiatives through various community-related programmes,” says Raghunath.
“We are very happy to be part of this wonderful project. Dubai Chamber’s initiatives and the framework of the CSR Label is a guiding principle for organisations across the emirate towards structuring their CSR initiatives,” he adds.
Centena Group is a multinational conglomerate with about 350 employees spread across the Middle East, India and Singapore. It operates in the areas of marine electronics, industrial automation, life & analytical sciences, identification and security and educational training systems.
In an effort to encourage sustainable practices among its staff, the Centena Group has introduced various practical methods to reduce per-capita waste, organised campaigns to educate and prevent food wastage and facilitated the use of glass water bottles instead of plastic within the office.
Employees are actively encouraged to participate in various programmes such as ENGAGE Dubai - an initiative of Dubai Chamber to facilitate business’ role in sustainable development by engaging their employees with the community in which they operate - and the Year of Giving - UAE's latest initiative to promote the culture of giving back to the community.
Earlier this year, in an effort to implement the Year of Giving strategy, the Ministry of Economy launched 11 initiatives to create workplaces that take up philanthropy as part of its core values and CSR is one of the six pillars of the Year of Giving strategies.
The Dubai Chamber CSR Label has been designed to provide a diagnostic framework that assists companies in Dubai with refining and improving their CSR strategies, policies and practices. It provides a clear voluntary standard for CSR implementation within the emirate’s business community and elsewhere in the UAE while it’s also designed to provide valuable feedback, enabling companies to better communicate with stakeholders about their CSR commitment and practices.
