Australian Dignitaries Visit Al Maya Supermarkets

Dubai, UAE, May 11, 2017:  H.E. Mr. Arthur Spyrou, Ambassador, Embassy of Australia, H.E. Mr. Gerard Seeber, Consul General, Consulate General of Australia, Mr Moin Anwar, Commissioner (Middle East) NSW Government and Mr John Butler, Commissioner (Middle East, Africa & Turkey), Victorian Government visited Al Maya Supermarket in Murooj Complex, Dubai, informed Mr Kamal Vachani, Group Director, Al Maya Group.   This is the first time Ambassador and Consul General of Australia visited our Supermarket, says Mr Kamal Vachani.

Mr. Kamal Vachani, Group Director, Al Maya Group warmly welcomed this high level delegation and introduced Al Maya Group and its senior members to the dignitaries. 

The delegation was impressed with the setup of Al Maya Supermarkets and appreciated the efforts taken by Al Maya Group in promoting Australian FMCG products in the UAE through Al Maya Group.

In the recent past, Al Maya group acquired distribution rights for Bundaberg (leading beverage products) and Devondale brand of Dairy products from Murray Goulburn Co-operative Company Ltd, Australia for the wider GCC region including UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait & Bahrain. In addition, Al Maya Retail is sourcing more than 100 leading brands from reputed Australian FMCG companies to cater to the Australian diaspora and the wider consumer base, informed Mr Kamal Vachani.

Al Maya Group, the UAE-based business conglomerate, head quartered in Dubai, started its operation in the year 1982 in UAE, and gradually expanded its operation across Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, India & UK. Currently group employs more than 5,000 talents managing different business units. Today group have diversified operation ranging from over 45 Supermarkets in the UAE, FMCG distribution setup in UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain & UK managing 70+ regional / multinational brands such as Oronamin C, Pocari Sweat, Kraft Heinz, Pillsbury, Cadbury’s biscuits, Koka Noodles, Silver Swan Rice, Acorsa, American Kitchen, Sante etc. 

The visit of Ambassador and Consul General of Australia would certainly further strengthen the strong relationship between the Australian Companies & Al Maya Group.  During the interaction, it was also discussed that a senior delegation of Al Maya group would be visiting the facilities of different Australian companies in the coming period to form a long term business relationship, added Mr Kamal Vachani.
