Sony Mobile announces GCC media winners of its UEFA Champions League competition

• Eight GCC media won the Gold Hospitality Package to attend the 2017 UEFA Champions League finals in Cardiff

Dubai, 24 March 2017:  Sony Mobile Communications MEA announces eight winners of its UEFA Champions League competition for GCC journalists that was held in Kuala Lumpur over three days, from 16-19 March 2017. 

23 select GCC journalists participated in a series of challenges and competitions including an amazing race, a treasure hunt and a bubble football challenge. They also attended a briefing on new Sony Mobile smartphones including Xperia XZ Premium, awarded the Best New Smartphone at MWC 2017; Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra; and previewed its latest mid-range smartphone, the Xperia L1.

As part of the day-long amazing race across Kuala Lumpur, participants deduced clues, navigated the city, interacted with locals, performed physical and intellectual challenges, and arrived at the secret destination. The treasure hunt was organised in Sunway Lagoon, one of the most renowned theme parks in Asia and six teams of journalists competed to win the grand prize. The bubble football competition among the same teams brought out their competitive spirit and pushed them physically. In addition to the competitions and over their weekend stay in Kuala Lumpur, the team of regional media also took a Pewter Knocking class at Selangor and created their own pewter cup.

The eight winners received the prized gold hospitality package to attend the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff, Wales on 3rd June 2017.
