The space inspired creations were also part of the official 59th GRAMMY® Gift Bag
Dubai – 2 March, 2017: When the 89th Academy Awards roll out on February 26th 2017, UAE and Monaco-based future astronaut and artist Namira Salim’s latest line of jewellery, Namira Monaco, will be part of the celebration.
A special edition of her latest collection will be included in the “Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bags given to Oscar® Nominees in major acting and directing categories. The bags have a dollar value easily hitting six figures, and are part of the glamour where Namira’s high jewellery creations will be gifted to A-listers including Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman.
Namira’s contribution to Hollywood’s biggest Night is her Special Edition Pole Star Constellation Pendant and Brooch, a collectible inspired by Polaris, the Pole Star. The pin was created by the House of Namira Monaco - an exquisite vault of astronomically accurate fine jewels infused with Namira Salim’s enchantment for the stars and passion for space.
“I am absolutely honoured to have presented my jewels in the “Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bags for Hollywood’s brightest stars. But more importantly, these jewels are a testament of the House of Namira Monaco’s ingenuity, delicate craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail. Every piece embodies the timeless beauty of the night sky and empowers the modern woman to set new dreams and embrace the stars,” says Namira.
The House’s collections - Diamants de Namira, Zodiac de Namira and Etoiles de Namira - comprise accurate constellations and stars crafted with precision in 18K gold, brilliant cut diamonds, precious and semi-precious gemstones.
This isn’t Namira’s first brush with the red carpet. Her exquisite “Pole Star Pin” was part of the official GRAMMY® Gift Bag, given to presenters and performers to honour the year’s brightest stars at the 59th edition of the GRAMMY® Awards held on February 12th 2017.
Namira isn’t just a purveyor of fine jewellery. She says she’s a dreamer, determined to curate a collection of “Firsts” – or out of the world experiences. She has made it her life mission to inspire world leaders to look to space, and go beyond man-made borders to inspire peace on Earth. In 2015, she launched her non-profit initiative, SPACE TRUST which advocates Space as the New Frontier for Peace.
Namira Salim is also a Founder Astronaut of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the First private space-line of the world and was personally introduced by him to the world press in Dubai in 2006. She is internationally recognised as the first future space tourist from South Asia, the Middle East and Monaco.
She spearheaded record-setting pioneering peace expeditions to all three poles of the world, also making her the first Asian and first woman from the UAE to skydive (tandem) over Mount Everest at 29,480 feet (8,985m) during the historic First Everest Skydives 2008. Namira is also the first woman from the UAE to have reached the North Pole in 2007 and the South Pole in 2008.
