Dubai Customs Gearing Up to Launch Its Carpet & Art Oasis During Dubai Shopping Festival

90 stands for 45 companies at the 22nd edition of long-running DSF attraction

Dubai, UAE, 20 December, 2016:  Dubai Customs is gearing up to launch its 22nd edition of Carpet & Art Oasis under the theme “A Fabric of Innovation” at Sheikh Saeed Halls 2 & 3 in Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), from December 29th 2016 to January 15th 2017.

A unique annual event, which now draws in thousands of tourists and visitors from around the world to Dubai, the Carpet & Art Oasis of Dubai Customs, made its debut in 1996 as one of the main attractions of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

Abdul Rahman Issa, Chairman of the Carpet Oasis' Organising Committee said that the 22nd edition of Dubai Customs' Carpet & Art Oasis will be 20% bigger than the exhibition held during DSF 2016.

“The total space is now 8,000 sq m, as we have moved to a better location at Sheikh Saeed Halls 2 & 3” he explained.

This year, rug lovers and visitors will gather to acquire some of the rarest and exquisite handcrafted carpets. There will be 90 stands for 45 companies, who will be participating in the exhibition. Organisers have received an overwhelming response from exhibitors with 100% occupancy levels. The event will feature about 200,000 silk and wool carpet items, 80% of which are hand-made.

“The Carpet & Art Oasis now draws in thousands of tourists to Dubai. The event is a main attraction at DSF, especially for rug lovers who flock every year to the exhibition” Issa added.

In the last edition of Carpet & Art Oasis, the sales reached AED 44million, and the number of visitors stood at 10,000. This year the number is expected to grow with strong participation from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, India and China.
