Dubai, UAE, 27 Nov 2016: With pleasant weather now in our midst, doing outdoor sports or being more physically active has never been more inviting.
You must have noticed that more and more of your neighbours are going for a run early morning or in the evening. There are also some fitness groups outdoors who challenge their physical strength with high intensity trainings. In the UAE, a number of fitness clubs have exploded in recent years offering fitness regimes to encourage more people to be active and healthy.
With the attention that high-intensity trainings or core fit programmes are getting of late, more people are starting fitness routines. As such, the UAE has attracted a number of extreme sports events – both international and local, which residents have participated in.
The UAE is even gearing up for the first-ever du Tough Mudder mud and obstacle course happening on December 9 and 10, 2016 at Sheikh Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai. The 8-kilometre and 16-kilometre challenges are designed to test the physical capabilities of individuals but also their willpower to complete the courses.
Preparing the body for extreme sports is crucial so as to avoid any injuries. It is equally important to keep the body well-hydrated when engaging in sports.
The body is made up of almost 60% water, with the brain also composed of water by as much as 80%. While each person might require different amounts of water to reach proper hydration level, it is commonly accepted that eight glasses a day are needed.
Volvic, the natural mineral water from the heart of Auvergne in France, has partnered with du Tough Mudder to help participants bring out their inner strength and abilities. Volvic is created by rainwater that flows underground, filtered through six layers of volcanic rock where it gets its unique mineralization. With its composition, Volvic is an ideal way to hydrate the body that goes through extreme physical activities.
“We are delighted to be partnering with du Tough Mudder, especially as both brands advocate bringing out inner strength. Volvic is recognized for its exceptional hydration benefits. Just like the volcano, we encourage participants to unleash their force from within,” said Iain Farrell, Middle East Zone director for evian Volvic International of Danone and himself an advocate for physical activities and challenges.
In preparation for intense physical challenges, experts strongly recommend to stay properly hydrated. In daily life, hydration is key. Water helps our body to flush out toxins from our organs and assist in nutrient absorption. When exercising, it is recommended to drink water before (in moderation), during and after to replace the water lost when we sweat. It is also important to ensure that the quality of water you drink is from a trusted source. Natural mineral water like Volvic which has been filtered through six layers of volcanic materials, has balanced acidity. It’s a quality in water that’s unfamiliar to most consumers and keeps Volvic’s taste fresh and lively. Other than its hydration properties, Volvic is also suitable for those who adhere to a low-calcium or low-sodium diet (including those with urinary and cardio-vascular conditions), as well as people with high blood pressure, kidney conditions and nutritional disorders, because it helps to eliminate metabolic waste.
