ADSIC organizes Cyber Security Workshops for 52 Abu Dhabi Government Entities

• Workshops focused on the application of cyber security standards across Government entities

Abu Dhabi, UAE, October 10, 2016:  Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Center (ADSIC), the government entity in charge of Abu Dhabi’s ICT agenda and operational framework, recently organized a series of workshops in cooperation with the National Electronic Security Authority (NESA), from 8th August to 26 September. The workshops included 52 Government entities and aimed to reinforce the application of national cyber security standards in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to protect against cyber breaches, while enhancing the digital experience and services provided by the Abu Dhabi e-Government.

The series of workshops were conducted in accordance with the General Secretariat of the Executive Council (GSEC) decision that required all entities to develop and formulate information security plans in coordination with ADSIC. The workshops included several in-depth presentations on the implementation of information assurance standards in the UAE, critical information infrastructure protection, and information security program plan. 

Speaking on the occasion, H.E Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of ADSIC said: “ADSIC recently conducted a series of workshops for government entities which mainly focused on the transition from Abu Dhabi Government cyber security standards to national cyber security standards.  During the workshop, the IS standards of ADSIC and its government partners were discussed and analyzed to ensure their compliance with UAE cyber standards, given their critical role  in the framework of the national Cybersecurity Strategy. We would like also to express our gratitude to NESA for cooperating and joining hands with ADSIC to conduct these workshops.”

Al Mansoori also highlighted ADSIC’s efforts to place plans and initiatives that ensure the implementation of  national cyber security standards and policies, with ADSIC placing paramount importance on effectively safeguarding the interests and information of its government constituents and its end-users, to continually ensure that Abu Dhabi’s e-Government adheres to the most stringent digital best practices and standards.

Furthermore, discussions on other key topics in the workshops included Strategy and Planning for the entities, Information Security Risk Management, Communication process among the government entities and roles and responsibilities of its strategic partners in Abu Dhabi.
