October 2016: Dubai, United Arab Emirates: GITEX Technology Week has launched an Arabic website to enhance exhibitor and visitor experiences at the event. Developed in association with Dubai-based translation firm, Commanine, the full-fledged, full-service Arabic language website mirrors the popular English version, and aims to provide current and relevant information about the event.
According to Bilal Al-Rais, Commercial Director of GITEX Technology Week, the need for an Arabic website has been gaining momentum in recent years. “With each edition, GITEX continues to attract various new audience segments, among them very young consumers, first-time shoppers, and large numbers of people who arrive in Dubai from neighbouring countries, specifically to attend the event. We wanted to be able to reach out to these audiences and communicate directly with them. Since language seemed to be a barrier, an Arabic website was the ideal solution,” he explained
“We found a great partner in Commanine to achieve this task. Not only are they reputed translation professionals, but they also developed a tailor-made technology solution to ensure speed, effectiveness, and accuracy of translation,” he stated.
Samer Mourched, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Commanine, said it was an honour to collaborate with GITEX on the website project. “At Commanine, we continue to explore the many realms of communicating and engaging with words - in print, electronic, and virtual spaces. Working on this project posed a specific set of challenges, especially live and quick-time translations, but we were able to deliver an apt solution.
“Together with DWTC, we are confident that the new website will benefit many thousands of Arabic speakers.”
Similar to the GITEX English website, the Arabic edition features dedicated sections for exhibitors, visitors, partners and start-ups; event and industry news and features, and other relevant information.
