Since inception, TECOM has been successfully creating business ecosystems across media, ICT, education, science, design and manufacturing to support Dubai’s economic diversification strategy with hubs such as a Media City and Internet City and the introduction of Dubai Design District in 2014. Increasing our sector offering to 7 with the launch of the world’s largest wholesale city, these sectors are considered pillars of the UAE economy. Dubai Wholesale City plays an integral role in consolidating Dubai’s position as a regional capital and an international center for trade and business.
It will increase the contribution to the UAE’s wholesale trading sector close to 10% by 2030. The progress on the development and planning of the AED30 billion destination hub, set to span over 550 million sq feet is going according to plan.”
For his part, Abdulla Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Wholesale City, said: “2016 marks our debut at Cityscape Global and provides us with a unique opportunity to engage with potential partners in different industries and sectors. We believe by highlighting the dynamic offerings of Dubai Wholesale City, and showcasing the blueprint of the project as well as its progress to date, we will effectively draw the interest of serious local and international investors.
Cityscape will also give us the opportunity to highlight Dubai Wholesale City’s critical role in the global trading sector that is expected to grow to about US$4.9 billion in the next five years. Such figures reinforce the vast opportunities the city can provide for its business partners.”
Belhoul added: “Today, we have also started taking bookings for space at the wholesale development. Companies and traders keen to establish their operations at our hub will benefit from its advanced infrastructure and world-class services and can book their space by visiting our team, at our stand at Cityscape.”
“Given the high interest expressed by over 300 investors at the time of the announcement of the project by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we expect a significant uptake from companies interested in basing their trade operations within our city.”
Belhoul reiterated Dubai Whole Sale City’s credentials as a wholesale hub of choice that offers a competitive and attractive investment opportunity. The destination is the perfect fit for a range of development projects, and is also targeting retailers keen to expand into wholesale and increase their investments within the GCC region.
Interested companies and traders can also submit application forms on the Dubai Wholesale City’s exclusive website.
In addition to providing wholesale traders with comprehensive offerings such as state-of-the-art infrastructure, integrated solutions, and a platform to connect, Dubai Whole Sale City will also extend support services, such as cargo, customs, insurance, finance, waste management and industrial hygiene, guaranteeing high operational efficiency and ease of doing business.

Belhoul said: “Once complete, Dubai Wholesale City will emerge as the top regional destination, and key link in the supply chain for global wholesale trade, offering best-in-class and fully integrated services to traders and companies. In addition, we intend to successfully leverage the strategic geographical advantages of Dubai and the wider UAE to ensure unparalleled efficiency in reducing the gap between supply and demand. We are working to support the UAE’s journey towards a diversified and sustainable economy that fulfils the post-oil vision of our wise leadership.”
