- New additions in 2016 based on analysis of patient needs
Dubai, UAE, July 25, 2016: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) run Hatta Hospital has further expanded several of its existing services and has added new health services in 2016, said a top health official.
During his inspectional tour of the new and expanded health facilities, His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA said that the move is in line with the hospital's efforts to continue providing patients with easy access to specialized healthcare.
“Our aim is to provide highly specialised services to the population at geographically convenient locations. Hatta Hospital serves patients from Hatta and nearby towns and the aim of adding new services as well as expanding existing services is two-fold; we are keen to enhance capacity as well as to minimize the need to transfer patients from Hatta to DHA hospitals such as Rashid, Dubai and Latifa. Our aim is to continue need-based expansion year-on-year.”
The hospital carried out an audit to understand patient demographics, the type of patients they receive, the most common diseases they suffer from etc. so that they can introduce priority specialized services in 2016. Since the establishment of the hospital in 2010, we have continuously expanded our services year-on-year with an aim to provide comprehensive and specialized services to the people living in the vicinity and in nearby towns.
The new services added include endoscopy, mammography an audiology labouratory, previously patients were transferred to DHA hospitals from these services.
The new service also includes a microbiology laboratory so that tests can take place in the hospital premises itself instead of transferring patient samples to Dubai Hospital for testing.
The expanded services include four addition Intensive Care Unit ( ICU) beds and two additional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( NICU) beds.
The hospital has also added a C-section delivery room on the same floor as the maternity ward.
They also introduced two-new outpatient clinics – nephrology and gastroenterology clinics- this year.
The future plan includes introducing new specialized out-patient clinics that will take place on a monthly basis and the hospital we will increase the frequency based on demand. The clinics include specialties such as respiratory, psychiatry and urology.
Additionally, the hospital will expand its existing arthroscopy services, which is important for diagnosing and treating joint problems.
These clinics will add to the list of 28 specialized out-patient clinics the hospital already has.
The number of patients the hospital receives is increasing year-on-year. In 2015, the number of outpatients were 107, 476 and the number of in-patient admissions were 2,927. In 2015, the hospital conducted 800 operations, which is an increase of 11 per cent compared to the previous year.
Hatta Hospital is a 123-bed multi-specialty hospital located in Hatta City Centre. The modern two-storey health facility occupies an area of 10,430 square meters near the new Sha'biah in Hatta.
The hospital serves patients from Hatta and nearby towns such as Huwaylat, Minayeh, Masfout, Mazarieh, Madam, Shwaib and some parts of the Sultanate of Oman.
