Al Nabooda Automobiles drives home support for A Safe Ramadan with Al Ihsan Charity Association
Dubai, UAE, 5 June 2016: The award-winning UAE road safety campaign, A Safe Ramadan, is returning with an ambitious target to help drivers reduce accidents throughout the Holy Month.
Al Nabooda Automobiles, the exclusive distributor of Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, has underlined its commitment to the community by becoming a main sponsor of this year’s cause and partnered with Al Ihsan Charity Association to help distribute half a million light meals at traffic intersections before Maghrib prayers.
Mr K. Rajaram, CEO of Al Nabooda Automobiles, will be joined by staff from the automotive dealer’s 12 locations throughout the UAE in donating their free time to join a host of volunteers in their efforts to connect with drivers.
Known in Arabic as Ramadan Aman, the objective of the campaign is to prevent drivers from speeding during the Ramadan rush hour, when there is an increase in the number of accidents due to lower levels of concentration.
Since its launch in 2012, the effort has distributed more than 645,000 meals in Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah and Sharjah.
Last year, 4,000 volunteers worked hard during the campaign to meet a target of an average 17,000 meals distributed per day and a total of 500,000 meals throughout the UAE; new sites added this year are Al Ain city, the Western Region and the Hatta border to Oman.
“This is our third year supporting A Safe Ramadan and it has become a cause very close to the hearts of my staff. The work that Al Ihsan Charity Association delivers throughout the year has a profound impact on the development of our community,” said Mr K. Rajaram, Chief Executive Officer of Al Nabooda Automobiles.
“I admire the charity’s impressive target for this year to reach the entire UAE and I’m proud of the time and efforts my team will contribute in ensuring the safety of drivers throughout the Holy Month.”
Al Ihsan Charity Association is supported by each Police Authority in the UAE to ensure all road safety laws and regulations are met when distributing the boxes. In 2015, the charity was awarded the Best Volunteering Experience among the Middle East by the Arab Youth Forum.
The light meal boxes contain dates, a piece of cake and water to provide hydration and a light sugar burst to people who have been fasting throughout the day. The overriding objective of the initiative is to reduce excessive speed and accidents on the roads, while educating drivers about being safe during Ramadan.
