Dubai Customs showcases its CSR journey at the 10th International Conference on CSR

Dubai – 8-Feb-2016: Dubai Customs has won the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for the third time in a row, in recognition for Dubai customs’ contributions in the area of social responsibility.
The trophy was presented to Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Corporate Communication Director at Dubai Customs by Mrs. Pankaja Gopinathrao Munde, Hon'ble Minister of Rural Development and Water Conservation, Women and Child Development, Govt. of Maharashtra, in presence of Lt. Gen. J. S. Ahluwalia, PVSM (Retd), President of Institute of Directors, India. Khalil Saqer bin Gharib was accompanied by Maryam Khalifa Al Shamsi, Senior Manager of Government Partnership and CSR.
The awarding ceremony took place as part of the 10th International Conference on CSR, held on February 5-6, at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai, India. Present in the event were some leading academics, legislators and global decision makers.
Bin Gharib expressed his content for Dubai Customs’ winning this prestigious award three times in a row.
The Director of Corporate Communication was part of a panel session on CSR mechanisms and approaches. He described Dubai Customs’ CSR journey and how sustainability reports at Dubai Customs are prepared. He shed light on DC’s CSR strategy, policies and practices, as well as the trophies won across the years in this area.
“Winning this award has added value to Dubai Customs’ BRAND image and has also encouraged us to share our successful journey and rich experience on sustainability practices, with other organizations, globally,” added Bin Gharib.
Ms Maryam Khalifa Al Shamsi underscored that the Golden Peacock CSR Award is regarded as a benchmark of Corporate Excellence worldwide, promoting sustainable development. “Winning this award is an international recognition of Dubai Customs’ commitment to CSR and is evidence of its maturity and adherence to best world practices,” she added.
Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by Institute of Directors, India in 1991, are now regarded as Holy Grail of corporate excellence worldwide.
