Dubai, UAE, 28 January 2016: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won four awards at Ideas.America 2015, for DEWA’s suggestions from its Power and Water Planning, Power Distribution, and Power Transmission divisions.
DEWA was the Silver Winner of the Best Idea of the Year Award for suggesting the Enhanced Medium Voltage (MV) cable efficiency and rating special backfilling material, the Bronze Winner of the Best Executive Leadership Award, an Honourable Mention for the 2015 Best Team Idea of the Year Award for the Optimisation of Lines Testing Process Approval, and the Kudos Award for Modification of Fire Pumps Maintenance in DEWA Substations.
“We are excited to have won these four awards from the Ideas.America Competition 2015—reflecting DEWA’s position as a global pioneer. These achievements fall in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to integrate innovation as a daily government practice, as well as a well-established culture, making Dubai’s government among the most innovative in the world. DEWA adopts innovation as a major government value and seeks to cooperate with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to improve our government’s performance in all fields and use the concept of innovation to develop government services to face challenges and further develop Dubai’s involvement with international affairs,” said His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, DEWA.
“The efforts of the UAE’s national organisations, along with their positive results and success in innovation and creativity, put the UAE at the forefront, not only regionally but internationally, as a pioneer. These four wins add to DEWA’s growing list of international awards, encouraging us to work harder on innovation and excellence to make our customers happier, provide them with the best services, and achieve DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and achieve a better future, for generations to come,” added Al Tayer.
Al Tayer also expressed how proud he was to receive the awards, which demonstrates DEWA’s position as an international pioneer and showcases DEWA employees’ outstanding efforts that have made the UAE proud on many international occasions. Al Tayer congratulated the winners, as well as everybody that played a part in achieving these awards.
Last year, DEWA was awarded the Energy Company of the Year by the Gulf Business Industry Awards 2015, and the Innovation Award category at the first Zad Zayed International Award, for individuals and institutions that excelled in their services and achievements. DEWA has also won the Commitment to Learning and Development award at the Global Risk Awards 2015, managed by The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) in the UK and the Idea of the Year award at the 28th Ideas UK conference.
