Kempinski Hotel Ajman hosts Kite Festival organised by Bukhara Indian Restaurant
Last Update: Monday, January 4, 2016 : 17:12 (+4GMT)
Bukhara, the signature Indian restaurant at Kempinski Hotel Ajman, in co-operation with Tamquest Entertainment MFZE and Channel 4, will organise on 16 January 2016 the second Ajman Kite Festival to be held in the Northern Emirates. After a very successful festival in 2015, the 2016 event will continue to demonstrate Sankranti kite-flying traditions, and Bukhara will provide a sumptuous buffet of tasty Indian food at the beach along with entertainment for both children and adults.
During the event, a professional kite-flying team from India will show its skills in flying colourful kites in every shape and size and teach the participants how best to use the wind to reach the skies. It will be a family-fun day with delicious treats from Bukhara, music, dancing and entertainment for the children, along with rhythms supplied by 3 famous DJs, supported by Kempinski Hotel Ajman’s resident DJ Alina. All this will take place on the 450-metre long white sandy beach of the hotel.
At its roots, the Makara Sankranti is a harvest festival held on 14 January every year to celebrate the arrival of spring. The Hindu tradition of kite-flying on this day is popular in India, Nepal and South Asia where it has a historical and religious significance and honours the Sun God, who is regarded as the symbol of divinity and wisdom. The colourful offering to the sun in the form of beautiful kites is a way of reaching out to and celebrating the Sun God.
Tickets are available at Kempinski Hotel Ajman and prices include the entrance to the festival, a buffet lunch from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm, a colourful kite for each participant and an exclusive performance by the resident DJ Alina. Package prices range from AED 100 per adult and children between the ages of 6-12 years can participate for only AED 50 per child.
Doors open: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Lunch: 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Adults: AED 100
Kids: AED 50 (6-12 years)
