Last Update: Sunday, December 6, 2015 : 14:48 (+4GMT)
Celebrating Nadal’s ambassadorship for ‘Tommy Hilfiger’ underwear, tailored and ‘TH Bold’ fragrance, the pop-up strip tennis tournament took place at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid.
WHAT: Tommy Hilfiger, which is owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], continued to celebrate its global brand ambassadorship with iconic tennis star Rafael Nadal at a pop-up tennis tournament in Madrid, Spain, at the Palacio de Cibeles on December 1, 2015. The globally celebrated 14-time Grand Slam winner played the rapid-fire match in the Galería de Cristal, under the venue’s impressive vaulted courtyard. Spanning 2,400-square-meters, the spectacular landmark is covered by a glass-domed roof made of more than 2,000 triangular pieces that form a mesh-like structure.
“I love how this event brings together fashion and sport with Tommy’s signature twist – it’s the perfect way to celebrate my partnership with Tommy Hilfiger in my home country,” said Rafael Nadal.
Nadal faced off in several racy rounds of tennis with Spanish models Andrés Velencoso, Juan Betancourt, Malena Costa and Cristina Tosio. Velencoso and Betancourt wore suits from the Fall 2015 Tommy Hilfiger Tailored collection, while Costa and Tosio wore looks from the Spring 2016 Hilfiger Collection. Nadal wore a suit from the THFLEX Rafael Nadal Edition capsule collection, which fuses sartorial tailoring and performance fabrics made for modern movement. The limited-edition capsule will be available at Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide, on tommy.com, and at select El Corte Inglés locations across Spain starting January, 2016. The new underwear and fragrance collections are available in store now.
Similar to matches held in the United States and Germany, each time a team scored a point, their opponents removed a piece of clothing, eventually unveiling the new Tommy Hilfiger men’s and women’s underwear designs. Twin models Juan and César Hortoneda entertained the crowd prior to the match, while presenter and comedian Arturo Valls hosted the event from the umpire’s seat as Nadal won the match.
The Tommy Hilfiger underwear collection refreshes classic styles with updated fits, revamped fabrics and elevated details. Design innovations, including a special four-way flex stretch technology, combine with premium fabrics for a result that’s sophisticated, durable and essential for every day comfort. Tommy Hilfiger Tailored features sharp silhouettes, modern tailoring and rich textures, while the TH Bold fragrance celebrates the spirit of determination and was created for the modern man who lives bold, with a competitive nature and effortless self-confidence.
WHO: Tommy Hilfiger and Rafael Nadal were joined by actors, models, VIPs and fashion influencers including: actress Carla Nieto, actress Andrea del Rio, actor Jose Lamuño, actor Tamar Novas, actress Katia Klein, actor Ricard Sales, Spanish National Ballet director Antonio Najarro, and model Miguel Angel Herrera.
