Abu Dhabi-UAE: 24 November, 2015 –Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), the entity responsible for developing quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality standards in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, is participating in the inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi Family Forum thatopened today at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi. The three day event is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Chairwoman of General Women's Union.

As part of its participation, QCC has set up a pavilion that aims to educate visitors and general public about the services and initiatives launched by the Council in its priority to ensure consumer safety. The pavilion showcases Manaa product recall and incident reporting system that enables consumers to report consumer products that pose a significant threat to public health andare likely to cause injuries. The system also allows people to view and identify products that have been withdrawn from the market for non-compliance to the UAE's safety standards.

Visitors to the pavilion are additionallyintroduced to QCC's inspection services that target controlled products such as children toys, home appliances and vehicle tires in order to protect people from the hazards of non-compliant products with relevant standards and requirements.

Sultan Saeed Al Mehairi, Director of Information Service and Engagement at QCC, said: 'QCC's participation in the first Abu Dhabi Family Forum is aimed at furthering our engagement with all segments of society and serving their needs. In participating in this event, we also seek to highlight QCC's vision, objectives, key services and initiatives that promote an improved quality culture among Abu Dhabiresidents as well as our stakeholders from public and private sectors. This will eventually contribute to enhancing the quality and safety of products traded in the emirate on par with the highest international standards.'

As part of the agenda, QCC is also participating in workshops tohighlight the role of its Manaa service and legal metrology service in achieving consumer safety and creating a fair market in the emirate. Furthermore, Manaa Mascot will interact with visitors attending various events and activities held on the sidelines of the forum.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate's exports and locally traded products, while protecting the interests of consumers and supporting the UAE's competitive economy. This is achieved through empowering regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
