Dubai Customs showcases globally-recognized CSR practices in Sustainability Report 2014

Dubai, UAE – 23 Nov 2015: For the seventh consecutive year, Dubai Customs has released the 2014 Sustainability Report marking its prime achievements and vision onward to elevate sustainability. The report sheds the lighton Dubai Customs role as the first line of defence and the protective shield of Dubai, showcasing its globally-acclaimed CSR practices.
The report highlights DC’s excellence approach in operations and service deliveries in line with the strategic vision of the state. It also congregates Dubai Customs data during 2014 in comparison with the same for the past two years.
His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih said in his preamble note “Being a public sector organization, our key functions carry strong responsibility commitments which includes protection of Dubai borders from prohibited items, facilitation of trade for the future success of our country and collection of revenue for state development. Therefore the way in which we carry out our core business itself reflects the true picture of our approach towards sustainability and corporate responsibility.”
He also stressed that “We understand that our role as a leading customs organization in the world provides unique opportunities to us in addressing local, regional and global issues. We also understand that our success is dependent on economic stability, global trade, civic engagement and a society that welcomes opportunity.”
The report presentsDubai Customs comprehensive performance approach towards sustainability in environment, workplace, community and the marketplace covering all customs centers and the main Head Quarters; using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 guidelines to define the contents and inclusions of this report, choosing the “Comprehensive In Accordance” option.
It also brings forward the major awards and achievement during 2014, such as the Golden Peacock Award for Global Sustainability, for its initiatives in promoting sustainable development globally. DC was also the first runner-up in the Public sector Category of the Arabia CSR Award Arabia Award 2014, which stands one of the highest accreditation in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Arab World, Dubai Customs also won the El Baz Award for Excellence in Organizational Sustainability which is organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart-University
On his part, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Corporate Communication Director stressed that, the utilized policy of the Corporate Communications at Dubai Customs stipulates precision and clarity in communicating information about services to stakeholders, , and how it makes it imperative to exploit opportunities to enhance the image and reputation of the service on all domestic and international forums and in accordance with best international standards and practices.
He then added, “ Clients’ are our key drive for corporate communication amongst many other as we always seek identify their needs and expectations, and to provide services that meet their aspiration while ensuring equal service delivery to everyone alike. We also uphold our employees as a major drive, so as we seek to enhance employee relations through examples that correspond to the values of the organization
Dubai Customs also upholds its commitment to close cooperation with stakeholders, stemming out of the deep belief that partners and stakeholders engagement creates value added for all involved, as their suggestions influence planning and decisions. At the same time, such cooperation gives DC an accessibility to unique platforms on which it can openly communicate its viewpoints and receive important impulses for innovation.
