Dubai Silicon Oasis to Host Innovation Festival 2015

•    In Line with the “UAE Innovation Week”

Dubai-UAE: 21November, 2015 – Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, today announced the agenda of itsInnovation Festival 2015 that will be organised at its premises as part of the UAE Innovation Week initiative announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Set to run from November 23 to 25, the DSO Innovation Festival 2015 will be hosted at DSO in collaboration with the UAE Innovation Week Committee as well as business partners including SAP, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT Dubai), Fun Robotics, Orange, GEMS Wellington Academy and Intel.

The DSO Innovation Festival 2015 will be open to general public of all ages and backgrounds. It will also aim at educating and informing the community about the true meaning of innovation and engaging them through various thought sessions and creative activities.

Speaking ahead of the Innovation Festival, Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and CEO of DSOA, said: “With the year 2015 being celebrated as the year of innovation, the UAE Innovation Week -that was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum –is designed to commemorate this unique year in the nation’s innovation history. At DSO, we are keen to reiterate our commitment to supporting creative and unique ideas from entrepreneurs and young talents. We are confident that their ideas and creations will directly contribute to the innovative technological advancement of the UAE.”

The three-day DSO Innovation Festival will feature seminars, workshops and innovative laboratories targeting children and young adults in particular, to provide them with fun and engaging methods to ideate as well as enrich their basic knowledge on Design Thinking, robotics, electronics and programing. Additionally, the festival will be hosting an Innovation Expo where exhibitors can showcase their innovations and creativity.

Furthermore, esteemed keynote speakers, including Robert Swan, a polar explorer, environmentalist and the first man ever to walk unsupported to both the North and South Pole, as well asTom Farquhar, Founding Principal at GEMS Nations Academy in Dubai, will share their life experience and personal innovation success stories.

The UAE Innovation Week that runs from November 22 to 28 seeks to celebrate the best in innovation from the spectrum of government, public and private sectors.
