Dubai to host the First ever VLCC World Inter-school Rope Skipping Championship

250 students from across 16 countries to compete at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex this 26th, 27th and 28th November
Dubai, November 22, 2015: World Inter-school Rope Skipping Championship 2015 will host over 250 students from across 16 countries at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex on 26th, 27th and 28th November 2015 to compete for the prestigious titles FISAC Style, Dubai League and World Challenge. This is the first ever school sports event on an International level to be held in Dubai with the backing of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. The Chief Guest for the event would be Bram Herssens, President of International Rope Skipping Federation.
The man behind this concept of World Inter-school Rope Skipping Championship is Harpal Singh Flora, Vice President of International Rope Skipping Federation and President of Asian Rope Skipping.
Some of the schools participating from the UAE would be Sheffield Private School, Uptown School Mirdiff, Delhi Public School Sharjah, The Indian International School, Oxford International Dubai, Our Own English High School and The Indian Academy.
“Rope skipping has been practiced for centuries as a fun, physical activity and then later on was taken as a competitive sport. It is a challenging sport and requires dedication in terms of nutrition, fitness and psychological concentration. We hope to inspire more students to take up the sport”, said Mohammed Saleem Khan, Director of Burnish Sports Academy.
VLCC has joined hands to promote their annual Anti-Obesity Campaign this November with an aim to address the global pandemic, Obesity and its ill-effects.
VLCC sponsors the event and has partnered with China Rope Skipping Association, USA Jump Rope, Rope Skipping Federation of India, Dubai Sports City and Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex to make this happen in the UAE. The event is organized by Emirates Vision Events and Burnish Sports Academy.

With this association, we hope to bring about awareness about our Anti-Obesity campaign and to create a positive impact on the society to live a healthier life” said Sanjeev Setia, VLCC International Business Head.
During the finale day on 28th November, VLCC challenges people to a ‘Stand Up ‘ at the event. The activity will have participants standing up in one position for the longest duration without moving.
“With the enthusiasm and keen interest of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council in this World Championship, has drawn attention from schools across the world,” said John Mathew, Managing Director at Emirates Vision Events.
Top Management from 150 schools with over 5000 adults and children are expected to witness the event over these two days. The countries that would be participating include Australia, Austria, South Korea, Belgium, South Africa, India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Iran, UK, USA and UAE.
