Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Stresses Energy Sector Role in Emirate's Growth

SNOC, Sharjah’s flagship oil company, to put up strong show at ADIPEC Abu Dhabi Expo
SHAJRAH/Sharjah Media Centre: November 09, 2015 – HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has underscored the importance of participation in ADIPEC (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference) which brings together leaders and stakeholders of the global oil and energy sector and is a major global platform to share experiences and expertise in the oil industry.
This came on the sidelines of SNOC’s participation in the premier exhibition taking place in Abu Dhabi from 9-12 November 2015 which attracts major national and international oil and energy companies and industry players.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said that SNOC is being showcased in the Abu Dhabi exhibition as part of the vision to promote Sharjah’s flagship energy player in the domestic and international market and get access to the best global experience and expertise in the field of oil and energy sector. This also offers us an excellent opportunity to strengthen our relations and network with international movers and shakers participating in the exhibition, he added.
The SNOC Chairman drew attention to the pride of place the United Arab Emirates enjoys on the world energy map as one of the most influential players in the global oil and energy market which adds to the eminence of ADIPEC as an international specialised exhibition attracting global decision makers and industry experts.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi lauded the positive role the UAE has played in the global energy market as one of the major oil and gas producing states that has used energy resources towards sustainable development and welfare of its people. This manifests itself in the exponential economic growth of the country and its expanding global role and influence, he added.
For his part, Engineer Waleed Rashid bin Demas, Executive Director of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation said that SNOC’s strong presence at the Abu Dhabi exhibition is part of the Corporation’s keenness to work with major national and international companies in the oil and gas industry and to keep up with the latest trends and advances in the world of oil and gas technology.
As the flagship company of the Sharjah Government dealing with a vital sector as energy, SNOC’s engagement with the global industry players and experts helps in implementing the Corporation’s strategic vision and strengthen its presence in major industry events and specialised exhibitions in this sector, said Bin Demas.
The SNOC CEO pointed out that the Corporation is engaged in and is constantly expanding its role in oil exploration, extraction, engineering, construction and maintenance operations, training, transportation and distribution, refining, storage, purchase, sale and production of all hydrocarbons and all associated activities.
Hosted by ADNOC in the energy capital of the region, Abu Dhabi, ADIPEC is projected to attract 2,000 exhibiting companies, 23 national pavilions, 18 national oil companies, 17 international oil companies and 85,000 attendees across four days of the high-profile exhibition, creating an ideal platform for petroleum professionals and regional and international stakeholders to connect, network and drive innovation and excellence in the industry.
SNOC was founded by the Government of Sharjah through an Emiri decree of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It owns the emirate’s energy assets such as SAJAA oil fields and is a significant stakeholder in regional and international energy markets.
