• Since 2012 until the second quarter of 2015, the DHA awarded contracts worth 24 million dirhams to Emirati entrepreneurs falling under the 'small and medium' classification
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 9, 2015: In the last three and a half years, the DHA awarded contracts worth 24 million dirhams to Emirati entrepreneurs falling under the 'small and medium enterprises (SME’s) classification, said a top official.
Eman Khalfan Al Jallaf, director of purchasing and contracts department at the DHA said that in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the DHA’s purchasing department has prioritized incentivizing and supporting Emirati run SME’s with an aim to create an attractive business environment for UAE nationals to increase their presence in the business sector and enhance their role in supporting the sustainable development of the country.
Al Jallaf said the SME’s provided services across all fields of expertise such as medical equipment, security services, IT etc.
She said that the DHA provided various incentives such as asking these companies that sign a three year contract with the DHA to provide only ten per cent of the cost for the first year, towards performance guarantee, instead of three years. “This allows companies to get more projects with various government entities as it reduces their expenses to a significant extent.”
Al Jallaf said that purchasing department regularly plans incentives for such SME’s with an aim to support the national economy.
