Latifa Hospital installs state-of-the-art digital radiography machines.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 6, 2015: Latifa Hospital, which is a dedicated maternity and pediatric hospital, recently installed two state-of-the-art digital radiography machines.

The machines worth AED 4.14 million provide several advantages over conventional film radiography.

Shefa Al Nakhi, Director of Clinical Support Services at Latifa Hospital, said: “The radiology department at Latifa hospital is now completely digital with the introduction of these machines. Digital radiography provides so many advantages over conventional film . It significantly reduces radiation exposure, provides high quality images and leads to faster diagnosis.

“Digital X-ray systems allows radiographers to control the exposure of each image in real time, so that they can  make images darker or lighter on demand. They can enlarge images and make enhancements to colour. These features improve the ability to accurately detect disease and its current state. Digital radiography systems also provide immediate visuals which leads to faster diagnosis.”

Al Nakhi added that in 2014, the department conducted 30,992 examinations.
