Huawei hosts UAE Youth Ambassador Program delegation at its global headquarters in China

Activities aimed at developing young talent from the UAE through international education and cultural exchange

Dubai, UAE – August 23, 2015: A delegation from the UAE Youth Ambassador Program was recently welcomed by Huawei—a leading global ICT solutions provider—at the company's global headquarters in Shenzhen, China, as part of the final leg of the Program's latest 2015 international tour.

The UAE Youth Ambassadors Program was launched in 2012 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to prepare young Emirati students for prominent roles in strategic industries both in government and the private sector. The Youth Ambassadors Program also provides an opportunity for UAE student ambassadors to acquaint other nations with the UAE national culture and identity. Huawei has supported the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program for the second consecutive year.

The latest cooperation with Huawei provided 22 of the Program's UAE ambassadors with the opportunity to explore China's rich cultural heritage while gaining access to one of the world's foremost information and communication technology companies. Activities included a special tour of Huawei's global research & development campus, meetings with senior Huawei executives and specialists from around the world, and a series of Chinese cultural events.

The students also had the chance to preview many of the emerging technologies that are being adopted by countries within the Gulf region, including the evolution of 5G mobile broadband, the Internet of Things, smart cities, and more.

“Engaging with one of world's leading ICT solution provider is of great importance, and it has been a pleasure to learn how Huawei has been successful in fulfilling its customers' needs; especially given the company's strong reputation in the UAE for innovation. We were amazed not only of how advanced Huawei's technology and smart devices are today, but that Huawei is also involved in many volunteer and charity initiatives worldwide,” noted Ms. Halima Abdullah Khamis Al Naqpi, one of the program ambassadors majoring in Biomedical Engineering at Khalifa University for Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi.

“We believe that education is the key to any society's future success. The UAE Youth Ambassadors Program is an exceptional platform that builds on such principles while creating unique cultural opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow,” said Mr. David Harmon, VP of Global Public Affairs at Huawei, who also met with students during the trip. “Huawei is proud to collaborate once again with the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program as part of its continued knowledge sharing efforts in the region.”

Over the last decade Huawei has partnered with many government and private sector organizations in the UAE to support knowledge sharing activities through its “Seeds for the Future” program, which is today run in various countries around the world.
