Over 1 million medical fitness tests conducted in 2015

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 3, 2015: The total number of people visiting the medical fitness centres during the first half of 2015 has reached 1,028,859 said a top health official.

Of these, 421,618 were new applicants and the remaining were visa-renewals.

Medical fitness test is a mandatory requirement for all expats in the UAE. It is required for a residency, employment or education visa.

The DHA has 16 medical fitness centres across the emirate for issuance and renewal of visas.

Maisa Al Bustani, Director of Medical Fitness at the DHA, said that 47,096 people opted for the 24-hour medical fitness test, 201,666 people opted for the 48-hour test and 57,498 selected the VIP option.

She highlighted the benefit of the Tawajud service, which is a fast-track service which is highly beneficial for corporate employees. DHA employees visit the office or home of the individual who has requested for this service and conduct the medical fitness tests required on the spot. At one time, a maximum of 70 employees can be tested. This saves the time of the business community as their employees can get the test done in their offices itself.

She added this service is also beneficial for housewives who do not wish to go to a medical fitness centre to renew their visa.
