Dubai Sports City set to host second Test match which could see either side claim the Series
Dubai - 2 August 2015: The national cricket teams of Pakistan and England will once again go head-to-head at Dubai Sports City this autumn as England embark on a tour of the UAE whilst Pakistan continue to use the country as a home base.
The Series will get underway on October 13th in Abu Dhabi with the Dubai International Stadium at Dubai Sports City hosting the second Test between 22nd and 26th October, an ODI on the 20th November plus two T20’s on the 26th and 27th November.
Both teams will use Dubai Sports City as their main base, taking full advantage of the facilities provided by the ICC Academy for practice and training sessions.
Dubai Sports City President, Khalid Al Zarooni said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming these two great international sides back to Dubai Sports City for what will be a hugely exciting Series including all three formats of the game.
“We know how passionate the UAE is about cricket and to be able to offer players, coaches and fans alike with the best practice and playing conditions makes us very proud.”
Bayliss’ England team will be looking to make amends for the Test Series defeat they suffered to Pakistan during their last tour of the UAE in 2012 when Pakistan delighted their home support with an emphatic performance winning all three Tests.
And it could be the iconic Dubai International Stadium at Dubai Sports City where either England or Pakistan can claim a Test Series victory with the venue staging the second Test match of the Test Series.
The UAE Series will consist of three Test matches, four one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals and will see England based in the UAE for two months.
It means that Dubai Sports City will be hosting world-class cricket for the sixth year and the Dubai International Stadium will be utilised to it’s maximum capabilities.
As well as the matches played inside the Dubai International Stadium, both teams will be using the ICC Academy for training purposes with two full-sized floodlit ovals and world-class indoor and outdoor training facilities available to both teams.
Maqbul Dudhia, General Manager, Sports & Events at Dubai Sports City explained: “When we built the Dubai International Stadium, it is Series’ like this that we wanted to attract. Two teams who have a great history and passionate fans to match.
“With the facilities we also have at the ICC Academy, we have the right infrastructure to accommodate any team in the world. It’s a very easy solution for the likes of England and Pakistan to use Dubai Sports City as a home as we have everything they need right here.”
England will arrive in the UAE at the end of September with their training regime beginning at Dubai Sports City shortly afterwards whilst Pakistan will touch down at the beginning of October.
