Dubai dance duo win second place at The Blackpool Dance Festival

Crystal Dance Center instructors delight judges at one of the world’s most significant dance tournaments

Globally acclaimed ballroom dance luminaries, Greta Laurinaityte and Dusan Dragovic, of the Crystal Dance Center in JLT Dubai, prevailed at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival to win the second place Amateur Ballroomtrophy. Held annually, the 9-day Blackpool Dance Festival attracts in excess of 20,000 competitors and spectators from over 60 countries. Since its inaugural event in 1920 the Festival has become an essential event in Blackpool’s annual tourism calendar.

“We are so thrilled with this win! It’s exciting to bring our trophy back to Dubaiand to the Crystal Dance Center. Following months of preparation for this event, which is arguably the most important on the ballroom dancing agenda, we hope that our dedication and hard work will motivate our students to improve performance day after day,” said Laurinaityte, owner of the Crystal Dance Center. “Dancing takes dedication, time and energy, and it is an incredibly rewarding sport. It teaches dancers more than just gracious movement, it teaches them to deal with frustration, develop problem-solving skills, and continue to thrive in the face of adversity.”

Ballroom dance partners Laurinaityte and Dragovic are currently ranked as the second best ballroom couple in the world. As members of the British Dance Council, they continue to represent the UK in a string of worldwide ballroom dancing competitions and have garnered the coveted title of UK Amateur Ballroom Champions. In this year alone they have won the much-sought after Classique Ball Award and the European Ballroom Cup, for the second time running. In addition, the couple finished in second place at the UK Open Championship in January, and cemented their position as the second best ballroom dancers in the world.

To the delight of dance aficionados in Dubai, the Crystal Dance Center established by Greta Laurinaityte, is now open in Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai. It combines Dubai’s treasure trove of dance talent with internationally acclaimed ballroom dancers to create a winning atmosphere amongst students and aspiring ballroom dance professionals.Crystal Dance Center’s roster of licensed and qualified dance instructors comprises Laurinaityte, Dragovic, and Lithuanian professional ballroom dancer Skaiste Alisauskaite.

Crystal Dance Center is located in Dubai’s JLT area, on the 15th floor of the Dome Tower (Cluster N).
